Mutual Aid in Action: $800 in Self-Defense Tools Donated for Pride Safety
Share
This Pride season, Meow Defense partnered with our longtime mutual aid collaborators, Sacramento Punks With Lunch, to help protect and uplift our queer and unhoused communities.
We donated 60 pepper sprays, a total value of nearly $800, to support two major events in Sacramento: Sacramento Pride and the Big Queer Cookout.
Sac Punks With Lunch set up a hydration and harm reduction station where they handed out free water, hydrating flavor packets, condoms, and self-defense tools. On Sunday, they brought the same energy (plus pizza and tons of snacks) to the cookout—proving once again that community care is punk as hell.

These aren’t just giveaways. They're acts of resistance. Self-defense tools are a form of harm reduction, especially for LGBTQ+ people, femmes, and unhoused folks who face heightened risks every day.
At Meow Defense, 10% of all profits are set aside for mutual aid work like this. So every time you shop with us, you're also helping protect the people who need it most.
We’re proud to support Sac Punks With Lunch and we’re proud of you for helping make it possible.
